Brecht gestus exercises.

Gestus is a major aspect of Brecht’s work and in this video I will give you two gestus exercises to help you utilise this technique when working in the style of Brecht.

When putting Brecht on stage it is important to use these elements as they are defining features of a Brecht performance. Other features in Brecht plays may be Brecht placards which can be used as another aspect of Brecht techniques to help defamiliarise the audience. Bertolt Brecht believed in awakening the audience in to social issues and used these elements to create verfremdung.
