After Hurricane Laura ripped through the Texas/Louisiana coast, we decided to try our luck in Freeport, TX where we know there are some stud redfish. to our surprise, we only hooked into 1 slot red at 22" and instead got 3 keeper flounder this trip. I rarely catch these and I was understandably surprised at today's catch. I also caught some small trout ranging between 13 and 14 inches (which makes a nursery slam) which has been happening very frequently this year for me. All of the fish were caught around the oyster reefs in the Brazoria marsh systems. Overall, it was a scorching day (feel-like-temps are between 105-110) but we found consistent action around the oysters and had a very nice fish fry afterward.

***please don't ask me for spots. I spend hours and hours finding fishing locations and, ironically, you learn from failing and scouting new spots, trying them, and learning from success/mistakes is what makes you a better angler. If you are really struggling, I can hook you up with a low-grade spot that I don't mind giving away (but be warned... those spots are heavily fished) if you give me a follow on social media and send me a message.
