One of the most powerful treatments for ailments like anxiety and depression is to change how you’re talking to yourself. We all have critical voices in our heads and many times, especially when we are in high-stress situations, these negative thoughts happen automatically. Unless we are proactively doing something to change this, this cycle will continue to happen. The bible even says: as a person thinks in their heart, so are you. Dr. Cloud talks about how to start replacing those critical voices with positive ones, not just on your own, but with the people you surround yourself with. We also must remember that our critical thoughts have been cycling through our brains for so long that it will take time and persistence to get into a new healthier pattern.
