Back to School 2024-25 | My Plans and Curriculum Choices

This year I have boys in 6th grade, 4th grade and a 1st grade. I’m still putting together most of our curriculum, except for a few subjects. And as far as schedule I’m keeping things pretty much the same except for a few changes:

Less family-style learning and more independent learning.

I’m trying out SYLLABIRD to plan and schedule our lessons.

I enrolled the boys in classes with Charlotte Mason Simple Languages.

Topics We’re Studying this year:
Civil War, reconstruction, and the remainder of the 19th century for American History.

Meadows/grasslands for nature study
Chemistry, electricity, and botany for science (I still use and love the guides from Sabbath Mood Homeschool!)

Antarctica and Arctic for geography.

Written narration with my two oldest boys (using The Writing Revolution and Know and Tell)

I’m using Charlotte Mason Elementary Arithmetic for math, as well as CTC Math for my oldest.
