Lake Cumberland Speedway hosted the annual Paul Evans Memorial race, the showcase event for the Hobby Stock division each season. The 50-lap contest paid out over $1,500 for the victory. The race was a wild event, with numerous cautions for tangles on the track. Veteran racer #57 David Marlar proved the old adage to finish first, first you must finish, as he avoided all the trouble to take a convincing win. Young racer #12W Weston Crabtree drove with the poise of a veteran racer to earn the second spot fending off a last-lap challenge by Adrain Smith. Lake Cumberland Speedway is a 3/8 mile clay oval located near Burnside Kentucky.
