Worthington Force: Breakout Force's Destruction Captured in Photos

During Operation Totalize in August 1944, Worthington Force, a combined group of tanks and infantry, headed for Hill 195 in Normandy. They never made it there and instead ended up at Hill 140, nowhere near their objective.

They had broken the German defensive line but were ultimately destroyed by Waffen SS counterattacks after the force was surrounded.
