Sotiris, praised for his exceptional palette of colors and remarkable technique, explores a vast repertoire, from the 17th century to contemporary music. In his quest to expand the horizons of the guitar, he has collaborated with many composers. His solo career began at the age of 10, with his first recital. Today, he performs throughout Europe and Asia, both as a soloist and chamber musician.
He collaborates with the leading orchestras of his native Greece and has been invited to perform on France Musique, Arte, and Greek National Television (ERT). In 2024, he made his debut at the Philharmonie de Paris, performing the Guitar Concerto by Henri Tomasi, accompanied by the Paris Mozart Orchestra for La Maestra.
His musical journey began under the guidance of his father, his first teacher. After studying at the Conservatory of Macedonia (Greece) with Fotis Baxes, he continued his training in Bordeaux (France) with Olivier Chassain, then in Seville (Spain) with Francisco Bernier. At the Conservatoire de Paris (CNSMDP), he earned five prizes with the highest honors, studying under Olivier Chassain, Tristan Manoukian, Michel Michalakakos, Philippe Bernold, and François Salque. He also received guidance from Judicaël Perroy to refine his artistic path.
Benoit Mussard :
The word “guitar” comes from the Greek kithara, a type of lyre said to have been crafted by the god Hermes and played by Apollo. Yet, the guitar is not solely an instrument of gods and muses; it is also the instrument of the people—ever-present, a companion of travelers, inseparable from the music and cultures of centuries-old traditions. Kithara is more than just an album; it is a musical journey, a new Odyssey. This project brings together creators from around the world, each inspired by the enduring themes of ancient Greece. Their music intertwines distinct cultural identities with the universal heritage of classical Greece.
