Tiny Taqueria Received Michelin Star In Mexico City (The Best Tacos In Town)

On May 14, 2024, a tiny taco stand in the San Rafael colonia of CDMX was awarded a Michelin Star.

Our timing for this trip was perfect! We arrived in Mexico City just two weeks after the first street-food taco stand in the world, was awarded a Michelin star. Of course we had to go and check it out, right?!

We expected when we arrived, there would be a line but not a line as long as what we encountered. They we figured a taco stand line can't take that long, right? Well we sure got fooled as we stood in line in the for 2 hrs. & 10 mins. (total time from arrival to eating was 2:38) It's like one of those things where once you've made the trip, committed to the adventure and stood in line for 45 mins., you just have to keep going and so we did. We loved the tacos and people have asked "Are they really worth the wait and a Michelin star?" We think so as they were different from any street tacos we've ever had in the past. The thin cutlets of steak and pork were incredible and the flavor was off the hook!

Next it was time to have a more civilized adventure at The Ritz-Carlton. It was amazing and the experience was top notch at the bar and the views from the Sky Bar on the 38th floor, were breathtaking. We loved everything about it not to mention it's probably the cheapest Ritz-Carlton you'll ever experience when it comes to the tab.

On our way home, we were entertained by some cool street performers who took a different approach to getting their audience's attention...you could say they had a captive audience. And finally, we made one last stop in the local area of our Airbnb to get a feel for the vibe at one of the corner restaurants. It's always nice to hang with the locals and we loved it!
