After the death of Crisanta of Wrapped Agony, it was revealed that she sacrificed herself to call for the resurrection of the Penitent One after his death in Blasphemous 1 Events.

If you are playing Blasphemous 2 - Mea Culpa DLC, It's a must to do the mud lady quest to be able to meet Crisanta again as this lady was but a messenger of Crisanta in the dreams.
Finishing off the Son of the Miracle with Mea Culpa is the only way to get the 3rd Ending in Blasphemous 2.
