Diffusion-based image generators, such as Stable Diffusion and DALL-E, enable creating 2D images from text descriptions. In this talk, we will cover recent research towards making these models 3D-aware, allowing them to generate consistent images of a 3D scene. It will cover approaches to incorporate camera control into diffusion models and different techniques for explicitly or implicitly representing the 3D scene. Furthermore, we will discuss the role of high-quality, large-scale, synthetic and real datasets in this task. Finally, we will conclude with a discussion of future research directions in this area and key takeaways from past work.
