Loneliness can be felt by anybody at anytime. However, older people can be more susceptible than most.

Dr Deborah Morgan offers an intimate insight into the impact that loneliness can have on older people and explores the ways in which society can help to eradicate loneliness. Dr Deborah Morgan is a researcher working in the Centre for Ageing and Dementia Research (CADR) and the Centre for Innovative Ageing (CIA) at Swansea University.

Deborah’s area of expertise is loneliness and social isolation in later life, the focus of her PhD. Her other research interests include health and health inequalities, the subjective experience of chronic illness and disability in later life, alcohol and substance misuse in older adults and life course perspectives.

Deborah is thematic lead for the Future of Ageing Research Group. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
