About SSC:

The Student Support Centre (SSC) at the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) is a confidential service devoted to supporting the emotional well-being of students at Manipal. Keeping in mind that going to large hospitals distresses students and dissuades them from seeking help, SSC is located in a quiet residential area that ensures privacy and accessibility. SSC offers psychotherapy sessions with qualified clinical psychologists, and arranges for consultations with visiting psychiatrists from Kasturba Hospital when required, and with the consent of the student. All services at SSC are covered by student insurance (Medicare) or through university funds – there is no charge to students. SSC has set up a Student Advisory Board comprising of student leaders from all its institutes to ensure a peer-referral system and a student-friendly approach. The centre also conducts awareness campaigns and outreach sessions. Modeled along the lines of counseling and wellness centres at the best universities in the world, the Student Support Centre at Manipal is among very few such services in India.
