Is your child losing skills? Maybe they’ve had a lot of language in the past, that now seems to have just disappeared. Or maybe those few words that they said a couple of months ago, you’re no longer hearing. Or if you a child or client with autism, maybe progress with autism slowed in terms of making significant language gains or reducing problem behaviors. Either way, it can be discouraging and heartbreaking you’re finding yourself in one of these categories.

Children and regression are common at early age, many times children will go through phases in terms of liking something specific. But after time, the preference for that same thing regresses. But regression isn’t only possible in preferences and personality. There can also be skill lag and loss, basically, a child knowing how to read at one point, but no longer being able to read. Or, a child may have been able to point before, but no longer is able to point now. This type of skill regression can be closely related to regressive autism. Regressive autism essentially means that a child is starting to exhibit more symptoms of autism and is getting off track from typical development. In today’s video I’m tackling autism regression and what you can do if you’re feeling stuck or no longer making any progress with your child or client.
