Opening day & demolition timeline of Hurricane roller coaster Myrtle Beach Pavilion

Описание к видео Opening day & demolition timeline of Hurricane roller coaster Myrtle Beach Pavilion

When the Hurricane roller coaster opened at the Myrtle Beach Pavilion in May 2000, it appeared to signal a new era for the popular seaside amusement park which had been operating since the 1940's. Little did we know that just the opposite was looming on the horizon. Just 7 years later, the entire amusement park and historical Pavilion arcade/dance hall would be a pile of rubble. Owners, Burroughs & Chapin, received a great deal of negative feedback for their decision to level the park but proceeded regardless. They promised something big, something that would generate revenue year round. Possibly a large hotel/entertainment complex that could possibly have a coaster. A few ideas were tossed around as to what would be built on this prime piece of land but more than 10 years later, mum is still the word. Truly a sad ending for the heart & soul of Myrtle Beach, SC.
