It turned out that the PCBs were not ready in time for kits of this watch to be available for the Vintage Computer Festival (or Federation) out East. So, Lee Hart is going to have the kits available at the Vintage Computer Festival-Midwest on September 13 & 14, 2025 near Chicago. The new PCBs arrived and will be included with the kits, and these are Rev. 2 boards, differing in that the voltage regulator for the LEDs has been removed in order to make room for parts that improve operation in other ways, e.g. pressing the SET button will automatically illuminate the display LEDs.

In this video, I introduce the new vintage electronics kit design by Lee Hart; I already have quite a few videos about his other kits.

This new kit (and I am showing only a prototype/pre-production version here) uses 1970's vintage through-hole components to implement a digital wrist (or pocket) watch having a binary display instead of a decimal display. Clocks and watches with binary displays have been around for a long time, and there have been commercially produced examples, but this is probably the first time that such a watch has been produced using the vintage technology while also being a practical watch size.

I show the assembly, then demonstrate the watch, then give a detailed presentation on how the clever circuit works.

The production version of this kit is due to be available at one of more of the 2025 Vintage Computer Festivals, if Lee Hart has a booth there.
