Welcome to Glion! My name is Ruben, and I am pleased to show you our campus today.
The Glion campus is both our flagship and practical learning center. On this campus, we welcome about 350 students including our Bachelor’s students during their first semester, which is a practical arts semester, and some of our Master’s students.
In this boutique hotel environment, our students experience the most sophisticated elements of hospitality and fine dining, as well as our unique Glion spirit. Please follow me!

On Glion campus, you will find 6 food and beverage outlets ran by students.
At The Bistro, our students learn about the service processes and the products. In the spirit of a beautiful brasserie, they welcome internal and external guests from Tuesday to Saturday.

Now we are in the Lounge Bar. This magnificent place, listed as a historic monument, is the perfect blend of modernity, chic, and Belle Epoque style. Here our students develop their creativity by elaborating a wide selection of cocktails.

Ran by the Two Michelin Star Chef Stéphane Décotterd, our gastronomic restaurant is located in the legendary former Hotel Bellevue. Here our students learn and master the table arts as well as the service protocol. In this fine dining restaurant, our students also discover how professional chefs run a real gastronomic kitchen. Through workshops and small group sessions, they gain hands-on skills while under the supervision of a passionate and talented team.

On Glion campus, most of the classrooms are located in the Academic Center. To personalize the teaching as much as possible and ensure that our students feel free to interact with their instructors, we only offer them small classrooms, fully equipped. In this building, we also count a study room and a jam room.
To learn more about the career opportunities at Glion, let’s meet with Ms. Jacquie Lutz, Head of Career and Internship department.

Hi Jacquie!

Hi Ruben!

How are you?

I’m very well, thank you.

Good, Jacquie, I would like to ask you a few questions, maybe starting with the admissions. Do applicants need any professional experience before applying to Glion?

No, absolutely not! It’s always useful to have some professional experience but in fact, everything that a student will learn at Glion will start with the basics. This means that they will spend 6 months on the campus learning all the basics of hospitality and then, they will get their professional experience during their internships.

Basics of hospitality, meaning Practical Arts?

Meaning Practical Arts.

So, why is practical learning so important for our students?

Practical hospitality is the basis of all hospitality and all customer service excellence. The students will learn on campus how to perform the different technical acts, but they will also learn how to serve with that excellent customer service. They will then take this experience out into the industry on their first internship. They will really apply it in a professional context which will polish those skills and make them career-ready.

Great! What kind of job offers can they apply to for their first internship?

First internships are always operational so it will be in food & beverage, or reception, or rooms, or housekeeping. One of the basic functions of hospitality.
