Sky News host Rita Panahi says free speech is a fundamental human right we must cherish after a study by the Institute of Public Affairs showed 95 per cent of over sixties supported free speech but only 69 per cent of 18 to 29-year-olds did.

“It is a fundamental human right and we are a signatory to the human rights charter so I think it is something Australian think every person is entitled to,” she told Sky News host Paul Murray.

Ms Panahi says if one were to say something not considered PC it could cost someone their career making people be more careful about what they say.

“The culture of censorship is alive and well in Australia sadly.”
