A former Mesa County, Colorado postal worker admitted she stole and cast mail-in ballots in the 2024 general election. Vicki Stuart and her alleged accomplice Sally Jane Maxedon were accused of identity theft and forgery.

The District Attorney’s office investigated the case and claimed that they were tipped off when county election workers received calls from voters saying that their ballot was rejected because of signature discrepancies. When you cast your ballot the signature on your ballot must match the signature on your ID as a verification measure.

These average citizens reported they hadn’t received ballots yet, but their ballots were being rejected over signature discrepancies. And this all took place in one neighborhood in Colorado.

Investigation was kickstarted and found that Sally Jane Maxedon had allegedly obtained ballots not delivered via USPS by postal worker Vicki Stuart. Maxedon told investigators that the ballots were given to her by a “random man” asking her to help test the voting system.

Later, Maxedon admitted that she and Vicki Stuart planned on testing the electronic voting signature verification system by taking ballots that Vicki was supposed to deliver, forging voter signatures, and then returning the ballots. This happened at least 20 times.
