An original plastic fuel tank from a 1994 R1100GS with 9,000 original miles. These tanks were known for fuel vapor seeping through the plastic, becoming trapped under the paint and eventually causing bubbles, blisters, pimples and warts under the paint. However, extended use of these tanks can also cause the plastic to fail as seen in this case just as I was ready to take the bike on its final test ride before returning it to the customer. This nearly became a final test ride for this machine!
