Inside the NEW Amazon Fresh "DASH CART" grocery store (Franconia Springfield, Virginia)

Amazon is heading to the Greater Washington, DC area in a big way! Amazon's second headquarter location (HQ2) will open in Crystal City, Arlington, VA, located just outside of DC.

For now, they're giving us a taste of whats to come with the grand opening of the first grocery store in the region, AMAZON FRESH, in Franconia, VA. I went to check it out, to see what the whole "contactless checkout" was all about. I happened to grab the only cart in the store that was out of battery. Check it out & see how it goes.

How it works:
Start by deciding if you'd like to shop with the Amazon Dash Cart, or stick with a normal every day shopping cart. With the smart cart you'll need to make sure that you have the Amazon App downloaded on your phone and that you're logged into your account. You scan your barcode and then you're ready to shop.

Place items into the cart and watch the smart screen pop up with everything you've already shopped. You can also add a list when you first get the cart, that will tell you what aisle all your items are in. No more running around the grocery store trying to find what you need!

Check out couldn't be more simple. Walk to the designated Dash Cart lane for check out, hit complete shop on your app and you're done!
