It's been a long time coming now... ⁠but we finally have an update of Tutu in her new tub and she's loving it so far.⁠

This speciality enclosure, also known as a waterland tub, gives her both access to water and a sandy beach area to lay her eggs - the perfect place to spend her summers.⁠

ICYMI: Tutu is a 16-year-old, endangered western painted turtle who was rescued from Burnaby when she was found with injuries to her eyes - leaving her unable to survive in the wild. Choosing between euthanasia or keeping her in captivity, we decided to give her a chance to live out the rest of her days happily in our care. ⁠

What's extra special about Tutu is that she was monitored in the wild through our program for over 15 years before we had to bring her in. Each season our team would go out and see her nesting successfully year after year. And to top it all off, she has very valuable genetics that we would love to see passed on.⁠
