The Story's Plot
Initial Skepticism: At the beginning of the story, Pete the Cat is skateboarding when he meets his friend Callie, who is excited about Valentine's Day. Pete, however, expresses that he doesn't think Valentine's Day is cool.
A Change of Heart: Callie explains that Valentine's Day is her favorite holiday because it is a day to tell people how special they are. Pete continues on his way but starts to reconsider Callie's perspective.
Making Valentines: By the time he gets home, Pete has decided Callie is right and gets out his art supplies (pencils, paper, crayons, markers) to make cards for everyone. He makes cards for his family and friends, including specific people like his friend Larry, the bus driver Mr. Ted, and the crossing guard Mrs. Gold.
The Forgotten Card: As he works hard to make the perfect card for every cat in his class and community, he suddenly realizes he has forgotten to make a card for one very important person.
