Get ready to see some beautiful glaciers! Heliotrope ridge trailhead is located in the Mt baker region in the state of Washington.

It takes approximately 2.5 hours to drive from Seattle all the way to Heliotrope ridge parking lot.

You will need a Northwestern Parking pass in order to park at the site.

Heliotrope Ridge trail is a 5.5 mile round trip hike with an elevation gain of approximately 1400ft. The hike itself is pretty easy IMO, but their are a couple of waterfall/ river crossings that you will have to cross. Therefore, I HIGHLY recommend everyone carry some walking sticks that way you don't slip and fall in the water, otherwise you just might get your feet a little wet. No big deal.

Unfortunately for us, at the last river/ waterfall crossing, the current was too strong and there weren't any strong foundations of stones for us to walk on and we had to stop there. You can continue to access the glacier route via the climber's route, but that was extra work.

Hiking poles / sticks (recommended to cross the waterfall / river crossings)
Warm clothing
