When she'd brought up the idea of firearms training, the groans from her group of trusted friend was audibly disheartening. Sure, they were all painfully aware of the dangers of city life and especially the abhorrent homicide rates. But thankfully the statistics had never. touched home or impacted them in a first hand way. She didn't know if this was a good idea because quite frankly had never given it much thought. The attack on the plane was a jarring bit of reality and had shaken her confidence base. It didn't help that her mother’s own overreacting fueled even more scenarios of murder and mayhem and had insisted on having Les home go through a security upgrade after her daughter was absolutely resolute that she wasn't moving back home.


Finally deciding on a shapeless pair of black trousers and black turtleneck she was ready. She chose her outfits at time with more care as not to invite attention ‘and what’ she thought ‘another assault.’ As though it were now her fault. Last night, her friends had offered to go with for emotional support and had left earlier than usual after a bit of small talk and a glass of wine. BShe left quickly so that her friends ‘ concerned comments wouldn't reverberate in her mind to the point that she canceled the class or change her mind. She’d in the last couple weeks dodged the ‘so what you getting a gun now’ and ‘why in heaven’s name are you wasting good money’’ and even the fatalism in the bunch ‘guns are not the answer . Les clarified that she had no intention on purchasing a weapon just to learn about them. Maybe she really did need to see a psychiatrist and find out what was wrong with her. She wanted to comprehend and understand way too much.

The day she strode into was amazingly brisk and stunningly sunny. She judged it to be sweater weather in the morning but apt to turn much warmer as the day progressed. She slid into her car and checked her wallet for her proper identification. She had done an extra maintenance check yesterday on her old used car she made up her mind to drive. She felt assured after the walking around the car checking her tires for proper inflation and to make sure that her headlights were still working on her old beat up car. She fumbled for the headlights and adjusting the seat, began to question why she chose to drive this older car rather than her BMW. Her rust and rusted grey corolla was still usable.worked adequatelt. It was rather like code switching when one’s conversational style shifted at times to mirror others. Shedecided that driving
her older model car may be a better choice today. People’s initial impression of her might convey the impression that she was wealthy. She didn't want her societal status s focus, just how to shoot.
