Shahi Kadam | A Craft Cluster Documentary

The Craft Cluster initiative at NIFT is designed with the objectives to expose students to the reality of the craft industry and to provide them with an understanding of regional tastes, diversity, resources, and environments. Through this initiative, NIFT aims  to connect with local artisans and has been successful in raising public awareness of and sensitivity to the integration of crafts into fashion and vice versa.

Our group was sent to Patiala as part of this endeavour to learn and study the skill of "Patiala Jutti". We developed a documentary and a Craft research publication during this process to record the fieldwork.

Shahi Kadam- is our attempt to give you a glimpse of what we experienced there. This project is a sneak preview of that analysis.
