Coxcomb Peak & Red Cliff | Class 5 Climb to The Sidewalk in The Sky | San Juans 13ers, Ouray CO

Описание к видео Coxcomb Peak & Red Cliff | Class 5 Climb to The Sidewalk in The Sky | San Juans 13ers, Ouray CO

This Technical Hiking & Climbing Adventure deep in the Cimarron Mountains of the San Juans, Uncompadre Wilderness was Colorado Extraordinary! The West Fork Valley Access Trail was surrounded by Unique and Imposing Spire Laiden Peaks and Carpeted in Wildflowers. An approximate 4 mile hike up onto West Fork Pass and around Coxcomb Peak deposited us on it's South side ramping shoulder below technical terrain leading to the summit. A Short Face Climb followed by easy Class 5 Chimneys allowed us access to it's Narrow Summit Ridge, a true Sidewalk in the Sky. The Sidewalk was briefly interrupted by a 30 foot notch that is down climbed at 5.6 or rappelled and escaped on it's north side as an Exposed Class 3 scramble. From the Notch, it was just a short stroll to the incredible summit and giant wedding wrapped rock outcropping that served as our rappel anchor. The rappel descended 180 feet down the loose & dangerous north face above the saddle shared with Red Cliff Peak. A quick trot north along the saddle and up Red Cliff completed our day at 13,600 feet.
