Frome and the Somerset Countryside Cycle Ride

Описание к видео Frome and the Somerset Countryside Cycle Ride

A ride I've been wanting to explore for quite some time, continuing south from the end of Two Tunnels Greenway in Bath, past the old disused Midford Railway Station and on through the beautiful Somerset countryside.

I planned a route to take in a couple of locations, following the Sustrans cycle trail down to the town of Radstock, then a few miles south west to have a look around Midsomer Norton (the namesake of the TV show Midsomer Murders), then back up to Radstock and continuing south east for around 7 miles down to my destination town of Frome.

What a pleasant ride this was. Lots of traffic-free cycle trails but also including some challenging countryside road sections. Having a really good summers day with a hot sun but just enough coolness in the air to keep things pleasant.

The whole round trip was about 50 miles in all so quite challenging for me but worth it for the views of fields with fresh crops spouting in the fields, old railways tracks hidden in the undergrowth and of course the great two tunnels in Bath.

A big thank you to The Riverside Cafe at Black Swan Arts, Frome for the excellent food and service.

This might be up there with my favourite cycle rides.

Enjoy!
