Largs is a traditional seaside resort town, easily accessible from Glasgow. Ferries leave from here taking trippers on the 10-minute journey to the Isle of Great Cumbrae. The town played an important role in driving the Vikings out of Scotland- a fact celebrated today with a Viking festival in early September. The festival features a mock skirmish, the burning of a symbolic long-ship and a firework display.
