I’ve been coming across so many hateful things against med students and doctors these days just because they put their personal life on social media. This has also happened to me quite a lot! People saying that tum jaise doctor ke pass koi nahi aayega because I put my life on social media and show what I do when I’m not studying. Saying things like if you live like this, you’ll definitely fail or have no knowledge, well let’s give this responsibility to our respective universities to decide whether I have knowledge or no.
I say this a hell lot of times, becoming a bookworm doesn’t make you a doctor, knowledge has no meaning if you don’t know the skill of you don’t know how to implement it and you yourself are not in a good stress free mental state. Doctors don’t just write prescriptions, they deal with people, they deal with lives, they deal with families. And a patient doesn’t care if you know the definition of health, but he does care if you’re able to communicate with them, comfort them and also build a rapport only then will he confide in you. And all this, my college has only taught me.
And social media helps me build my communication skills, helps me lose fears, helps me tackle criticism, helps me understand people’s perspectives and so much more. And the biggest perk it helps me manage time and helps me understand the value for money. I don’t think at this age, I would’ve been able to learn all this by just reading medicine books.
And then it’s completely everyone’s choice that how do they want to spend their free time in MBBS. And yes there is a lot of free time in MBBS if you know how to use it effectively, you can achieve whatever you want.

Stop judging med students and doctors based on their personal lives, judge them on their clinical skills, the way they communicate, how much they understand their patients.
