Shelly Cashman Word 365 | Module 2: SAM Project B Renewable Energy Sources
PROJECT STEPS
You are writing a research paper for your Introduction to Environmental Technology class on renewable energy sources. You must write the paper in the MLA style and include suggestions from your instructor, Elsie Norland.
Start by changing the Citations & Bibliography Style of the document to MLA.
To conform to MLA guidelines, modify the Normal style as follows:
Change the Normal style font to Times New Roman.
Change the Normal style font size to 12 point.
Change the Normal style line spacing to double with no blank space after paragraphs.
Apply the modified Normal style to the title paragraph "The Quest for Renewable Energy Sources".
Center the title paragraph.
Insert a header as follows to match MLA guidelines:
Insert a Blank header at the top of the page.
Right-align the header paragraph.
Type Kamalka as the header text, insert a space, and then insert a Plain Number page number from the Current Position gallery. [Mac Hint: Insert a Top of page (Header) page number with Right alignment on all pages in the document.]
Close the Header & Footer Tools.
Create a First Line indent of 0.5" for the body paragraphs beginning with "As a result of the ongoing climate crisis…" and ending with "…benefits are conclusive."
Respond to the comment from your instructor, Elsie Norland, in the third paragraph as follows:
Read the comment, and then delete it.
Before the period in the sentence " The warming effect… by 45% since 1990.", insert a citation to a new source using the information shown in Figure 1.
Table 1: Web Site Source
Towards the end of the seventh paragraph (about geothermal energy), insert a citation to the existing University of Michigan source before the period at the end of the sentence, "…in 2020 to 49.8 billion kWh in 2050."
In the first sentence in the fourth body paragraph ("The first of the five renewable sources…"), use the Thesaurus to replace the word "copious" with a more common synonym that starts with the letter "a".
In the fifth body paragraph ("Wind is the second clean energy source…"), find the Hartman citation, and then edit the source to add "Wind" before "Power" to the name of the Web Page so the text reads "Top Ten Things You Didn't Know About Wind Power".
In the next paragraph, before the period at the end of the sentence, "For example, a country such as Iceland … the majority of their energy needs.", insert a citation to a new source using the information shown in Table 2. [Mac Hint: There is no Medium field in the Mac version of Word. Add the first nine entries only.]
Table 2: Web Site Source
In the eighth paragraph (begins "Ocean power is the fourth renewable energy source."), edit the Watson citation to add 12-14 as the page number.
To provide additional information at the end of the ninth paragraph (about biomass energy), move the insertion point immediately after the period in the sentence "While biomass energy is associated with carbon dioxide emisions, the amount released is considerably lower than emissions from non-renewable energy sources." and insert a footnote with the following text: In Copenhagen, bioenergy is the most widely used renewable energy source.
Modify the Footnote Text style by changing its font size to 12 point, the line spacing to double, and the indentation to a 0.5" First line indent.
In the main body of the document, find all instances of the text "resource" and replace it with source to use the correct term for this paper. (Hint: You should make three replacements.)
On Page 3, read the remaining comment from Elsie Norland, and then reply to it with the following text:
Thank you!
Modify the "Works Cited" paragraph at the end of the document as follows to match the MLA style:
Move the insertion point to the beginning of the "Works Cited" paragraph, and then insert a manual page break.
Center the "Works Cited" paragraph on the new page
Move the insertion point to the left-aligned blank paragraph at the end of the document, and then use the Insert Bibliography command to insert a list of sources without a built-in heading.
In the bibliography, the month ac
