Nat was born a slave. As a young boy he was taught to read by the son of his slave owner, and he got vehemently interested in the Bible. As an Adult, Nat would begin to have visions that would lead him on a path toward Martyrdom. Disclaimer: Nat never used the last name Turner in his life, and it was given to him after His Death by news agencies, which gave him the last name of his first Slave Owner. Therefore, out of respect for this historic figure, I will refer to him mostly as just "Nat."
