Tutto el mondo abandonasti,
novell'ordine plantasti,
pace in terra annuntiasti,
como fece el Salvatore,

In tutte cose lo seguisti,
vita d'apostoli facesti,
multa gente convertisti
a ludare el suo gran nome.

Tre ordine piantasti:
li minori in prima vocasti,
e puoi li donni reserasti,
li continenti a perfectione.

Cristo culli angeli tutti quanti
et la sua madre colli sancti
vénaro per te con dolçi canti
menartene cum grande honore.

Facesti la corte ralegrare,
dolcissimi versi cantare
davante l'alta maiestade,
reddendo laude cun amore.

I want to sing praises out of love to the first Franciscan!

St. Francis, sweet love, Christ became aware of you,
because you were perfect and his true servant.

You abandoned yourself entirely to the world, you planted new orders,
you proclaimed peace on earth, just as the Savior had done.

You followed him in everything, led the life of the apostles,
you convinced many people to praise his great name.

You founded three orders: first you convened the Friars Minor,
then you included the women, and lastly the devout laymen.

Christ with all the angels and his mother with the saints
came to you with sweet songs to accompany you with great honors.

You let the heavenly court rejoice, sing sweet verses
before the high majesty, offering him songs of praise with love.

Saint François, doux amour, Le Christ t'a admis en lui,
parce que tu étais tellement parfait et son véritable serviteur.

Tu as renoncé au monde, de nouveaux ordres tu as planté,
paix sur terre tu as annoncé, comme le Sauveur l'avait fait.

Tu l'as suivi en toutes choses, menant la vie d'un apôtre,
tu as converti beaucoup de gens à louer son grand nom.

Tu as fondé trois ordres: par les Frères mineurs tu as commencé,
puis tu as inclus les femmes, et les pieux laïcs pour finir.

Le Christ avec tous les anges et sa mère avec les saints
vinrent à toi avec de doux chants
afin de t'accompagner avec de grands honneurs.

Tu as fait se réjouir la cour céleste, chanter les plus doux vers
