Over 350 years ago, in 1657, Ahasuerus Fromanteel sent his son John to help Salomon Coster make the first batch of pendulum clocks in the Hague, to the design of Christiaan Huygens. He came back to London in May 1658 and in November 1658, Ahasuerus Fromanteel took out an advert in the local paper, the Commonwealth Mercury and it said, come and see the clocks made with a new regulator, which go more equally in time and will go for a day, a week, a month, or a year on one winding and are unaffected by the weather. And this is the sort of clock, the first clocks made in London by Ahasuerus Fromanteel.
