Wildlife investigator and conservationist Ivan Carter travels deep into the heart of Africa to solve a mystery: are hippos truly the continent's most aggressive and dangerous animals? On a quest to understand their behavior, Carter meets with local villagers who live in fear of these massive creatures. From a community insisting a rogue hippo must be killed to a funeral for a man supposedly lost to a hippo attack, the local belief is that hippos are violent killers. To get a different perspective, Carter gets up close and personal with rescued, habituated hippos, and even puts himself in a vulnerable position with wild ones to test their aggression. What he finds challenges everything we thought we knew about these animals.
