We had great fun on a Cliffs of Moher walk. Taking a Cliffs of Moher Coastal walk or walking tour is one of the best ways to take in the views from the most famous cliffs in Ireland. It can get busy on weekends and key holidays - but totally worth the walk.

Part of the route takes you off the official track - not to say there is no risk of injury - you can make a judgement call on the day - how far you do walk. One of my favourite places in Ireland - if you can take a Cliffs of Moher half day tour - or full day walking tour of the site - you will not be disappointed.

The Cliffs of Moher is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Ireland - and it deserves to be - and not just that but the Cliffs of Moher is also a place that carries the natures of the world; it might be the cliffs themselves, the ocean, the birds, the plants, or even the wildlife that surrounds the place, but there is definitely one thing or another that would make this place different and would attract lots of people to the nature that is part of it.

We loved this experience in Ireland because as we have just said above, it combines all the aspects of nature in one trip and during the same walk. The Cliffs of Moher destination is considered one of Ireland's most spectacular natural wonder at the heart of the Wild Atlantic Way since it brings tourists to the edge of the world and provide them a perfect view that combines the smell of the sea salt, the voice of the birds singing, the feeling of the wind, and the rocks beneath the feet and all that comes just by the rugged cliffs.

The walk on the Cliffs of Moher is one thing on its own but in the same area you will also pass by the visitor centre in which you will get the chance to know more about the history of the location and there is also another thing that people place on the list of destinations found around which they head to, which is the O'Brien's Tower which was built by Cornelius O'Brien who built the tower near the highest point of the cliffs as a viewing area for the 19th century visitors, and he also built a wall along the cliffs which are made from Liscannor flagstone - the remnants of this wall are now placed in the visitor centre grounds.

It was really a different kind of trip which we have been on even though it is not a place to discover in Ireland - already more than million tourists head to it every single year - but it is different because of the breathtaking view which we will most probably fail to get anywhere else that is mixing nature in so many different ways.

The Cliffs of Moher are located on the west coast of Ireland, close to Liscannor village in county Clare. The name "Cliffs of Moher" actually carries a story and there is even a reason behind calling it that - the name "Moher" comes from a ruined promontory fort known as "Mothar" which was demolished during the Napoleonic wars in the early 1800s. to make room for a signal tower at Hag's Head; and the word "Mothar" in the old Gaelic means "the ruins of a fort".

Those cliffs which reach 214 meters in height could provide beautiful scenes for different things in Ireland, such as the Aran Islands, Galway Bay, the Twelve Pins, and the Maum Turk Mountains in Connemara as well as the Dingle Peninsula and Blasket Islands in Kerry; but of course in order to get the chance to see these locations even from a far destination, you should be lucky enough to visit the Cliffs of Moher on a clear day.
