Fretboard Journal Wintergrass 2024 Vintage Instrument Workshop (Full Concert)

Every year at PNW bluegrass festival Wintergrass, the Fretboard Journal magazine hosts a vintage instrument workshop. We collect a wide array of rare and priceless vintage guitars and mandolins from our friends and readers and ask a handful of stellar performers to try them out.

For the audience, it's a rare chance to hear some legendary (and occasionally quirky) vintage acoustic instruments in a concert setting. Beyond the obvious pre-war Martins and Gibsons, we always stick a few lesser-known brands and models up on stage, too...including Regals and Washburns.

Our 2024 workshop featured musicians Tim O'Brien, Eli West, Nina Gerber and Chris Eldridge. This year's workshop stretched over 90 minutes.

Special thanks to Wintergrass, Mark Demaray, to D'Addario Strings for their assistance with this workshop every year, and to Bill Clements and Rob Newsom for their help on stage. And to all the collectors and FJ readers who let us borrow their guitars and mandolins for a couple of hours on a Saturday morning.
