Grenada and Suriname kicked off their respective campaigns earning a point apiece in a 1-1 draw with some late excitement at the Kirani James Athletics Stadium in St. George's, Grenada.

There were chances for both sides in the first half that forced the two goalkeepers into some big saves. Grenada shot-stopper Jason Belfon had to react quickly to snag a Gleofilo Vlijter header in the third minute, while just after the half-hour mark Suriname GK Warner Hahn snuffed out a great chance for Saydrel Lewis.

The intensity increased as full-time neared, and Grenada would finally break though in the 85', with Lewis finishing at the back post a cross from the left wing for a 1-0 Grenada lead.

The joy for the home fans did not last long though, as Suriname struck right back in the 87' courtesy of a flicked-on header by Mitchell te Vrede to pocket a 1-1 draw for the visitors.
