Trying out a new thing for this channel - reviewing art supplies as I try them out! Let me know what I should try out next - I’m forever on the hunt for my perfect pre-made sketchbook, and I have yet to find it!

My TL;DR thoughts on this Strathmore sketchbook is that it doesn’t work well for the way that I paint, but I’ll probably just adjust my method when I paint in it since I don’t want to waste the money I already spent on it. It will likely work really well for markers, and I’ve been meaning to try out more mediums anyway, so I’ll probably devote this sketchbook, along with my other not-suitable-for-watercolor sketchbook, to those tests! I don’t like to waste supplies, so I’ll definitely still use these, it just may take a while, lol.

I use Sennelier artist-grade watercolors in the tube, but the set I own is no longer sold so I can’t link it. I recommend buying just a few tubes to start out with, or getting a small set if you can find one!

I think this one’s pretty good quality, and it’s super cute, but the paper is not thick enough for how I paint nowadays! I definitely recommend this for beginners, it’s sturdy and great for traveling as well. If you use a lot of water, it may not hold up well for large washes of color.

This one’s huge on social media, but I didn’t have the best experience with it - I think the paper isn’t thick enough and it has a tendency to bleed on me. I do still use it for light sketches though! They’ve recently come out with 100% cotton 300gsm paper sketchbooks, which I’m definitely interested in trying as well. Let me know if you think I should review it!

This one’s no good, I don’t like it for watercolor at all. You can only really use this with pen and markers, in my opinion. I haven’t tried their watercolor-specific sketchbook, since my local art store didn’t carry them, but I’m not too interested in trying it given my experience with their regular sketchbook :(
