Environmental Cleanliness and Swachhta Awareness Programme-2025

The Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, DTU, in collaboration with the Green Institute of Research and Development (GIRD), organised an “Environmental Cleanliness and Swachhta Awareness Programme” aligned with the ongoing Swachchta Abhiyan.

The event began with an enthusiastic rally march by faculty, research scholars, staff members, students, and school children, carrying placards and banners and raising slogans to spread awareness on the importance of a clean environment. The rally concluded at DTU’s children’s park, where a pledge for cleanliness was taken, led by Dr. Geeta Singh, Head of Department.

This was followed by a meaningful plantation drive, where Tulsi and Aloe Vera saplings were planted to promote sustainability and green practices. The drive culminated with an awareness address by the organising team, reinforcing the role of individuals in protecting the environment. Participants then gathered in the department’s seminar hall, where Dr. Anil Kumar, Director, Perfact Group, delivered an impactful awareness talk, enriching the audience and especially motivating the school students present.

To further engage the younger participants, a drawing competition on the theme “Saving Mother Earth” was conducted, where the creativity and enthusiasm of school children shone through. The best three drawings were awarded, adding to the excitement of the event. With nearly 60 participants actively involved, the programme was a step forward in spreading awareness about cleanliness, hygiene, and environmental responsibility.
