This video shows early-evening ham-band (7 MHz) reception using a regenerative receiver that has no external antenna and uses only a tiny ferrite rod antenna (SL-45GT, designed for AM BCB frequencies) as the tank coil. Location is the balcony of a high-rise building. Signal strength is surprisingly strong for such a tiny antenna. Signals are unfortunately much weaker during the daytime.

The audio is poor quality because I was recording the audio directly from the crystal earphone, holding the crystal earphone next to the microphone of my phone. To allow me to hear the radio's audio while recording, it was necessary to hold the crystal earphone some distance from the microphone, further degrading audio. Finally, the RF emissions from the phone itself also interfere with the receiver. The point of this video was simply to show that strong signal levels can be received at shortwave on a tiny ferrite rod antenna.
