There is so much anxiety revolving around the medical profession, and with depression, anxiety and suicide rates through the roof for both medical students and medical professionals, it is critical that we address this issue!

So much anxiety surrounds the application process... starting with the MCAT. Pressure is fine, but anxiety is not. I believe the toxicity of comparison is the true culprit. You do not need to have the same scores, or even the same goals, as another applicant in order to achieve what is best for YOU.

I think a simple shift in perspective can not only reduce the levels of stress students feel from this exam, but can help them perform and achieve the score they need! Let’s address the burnout, depression and anxiety that is so prevalent in the medical field by learning to eliminate comparison early on and simply focusing on achieving what is best for us, and not our neighbors.
