IELTS Speaking: Part 3 (Discussion and Analysis)

Dear IELTS candidates,

I have created this video lesson to teach you how to respond to questions from Section 3 showing your analytical/critical thinking skills.

You could use the following templates when discussion questions in Section 3 of the IELTS speaking examination:

1) What problems do___face? What are the possible solutions to these problems?
• I believe that the biggest challenge would be (problem) This is because (reason). Consequently, (result)
• The next challenge that people usually face is (problem) One of the reasons for this is (reason) This usually leads to (result)
• A possible solution to this problem would be (solution) As a result, (result)
• Alternatively, governments/individuals could (solution 2). The positive outcome of this might be (result)

2) What are the advantages and disadvantages of ___?
• The most obvious benefit of this is (advantage 1). For example, those who___usually___
• The second advantage is (advantage) This can be seen in such situations/countries where (example)
• Speaking of the drawbacks, the most obvious would be (disadvantage) This usually causes such problems as (problem 1) and (problem 2)
