Dr. Lucia Huang, the former Florence School District One Teacher of the Year, is dedicated to her dream of creating global citizens by understanding cultures through language one student at a time. Originally from Taiwan, Dr. Huang has been living in the US since 1988. She received her MA in German and Ph.D. in Education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

In South Carolina, she taught German at Coker College and education courses at Francis Marion University, Coastal Carolina University, and the University of Phoenix Online. She has been a German teacher at Wilson High School since 1998. She was the 2013-2014 Florence School District One Teacher of the Year.

In 1999, Peter Lang Publishing published her book American Young Adult Novels and their European Fairy-Tale Motifs. Her Chinese book entitled 歌德的愛與靈魂 was published her book American Young Adult Novels and their European Fairy-Tale Motifs. Her Chinese book entitled 歌德的愛與靈魂 was published by Eurasia Publishing in 2005. It is a book about the life of the great German writer, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
