Paul’s assistant, Kate, is into permaculture and works towards a predator-free environment. Meet Paul Scriven and Kate Misselbrook

Paul Scriven is the resident manager of Te Moata: a retreat centre in the Coromandel region nestled within the bush and lit by solar power. Paul lived in Mount Maunganui for over 20 years, running an Ashtanga Yoga shala, teaching yoga and practising massage therapy.

With global upheaval in 2020, Paul and his wife, Anna, hit the road for a lifestyle change, living in a van and then housesitting on the remote Rangitoto ki te Tonga /D'Urville island. With the housesit ending, they took up the challenge to become Managers at Te Moata and have been there since March 2022.

Kate Misselbrook assists Paul with the day-to-day running of the Moata. She produces her own podcast, interviewing teachers and speakers who come to the retreat. She also works towards a predator-free space with a touch of enlightenment.
