Eighteen homes near Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport will get sound-insulation treatments as part of the first phase of a $35 million program. The Maryland Board of Public Works on Wednesday approved a $1.1 million contract to provide the treatments in the approved noise mitigation contour as part of the airport's Residential Sound Insulation Program. "For over three decades, the Residential Sound Insulation Program has been one important component of our longstanding commitment to help mitigate the impact of aircraft operations on local communities. We are excited to expand this program," Ricky Smith, executive director and CEO of BWI-Marshall Airport, said in a statement.
