Credits to 4KANT, for publishing the Driver: You Are The Wheelman – Unity Remake Prototype.
All structural content originates from their technical work.
The technical author of the Driver: You Are The Wheelman – Unity Remake Prototype is 4KANT, who publishes his work on the YouTube channel:
/ @4kant
His channel focuses on the structural manipulation of classic video games. He documents systems under functional criteria, using graphic engines, hexadecimal editors, custom scripts, test environments, and external configurators. The methodology is broad, not restricted to one platform or toolset.
Titles featured on the channel include Driver (1, 2, Driv3r, Parallel Lines, etc.), multiple GTA releases, The Simpsons: Hit & Run, True Crime, Need for Speed, Mafia, Stuntman, Test Drive, Burnout, Wheelman, Retro City Rampage, Ridge Racer, Tokyo Xtreme Racer, Juiced, Project Gotham Racing, Forza, Gran Turismo, FlatOut, Wreckfest, BeamNG.drive, CarX Drift Racing, Mad Max, Watch Dogs, Cyberpunk 2077, Saints Row, Sleeping Dogs, L.A. Noire, Red Dead Redemption, Hitman, Just Cause, Far Cry, Call of Duty, Half-Life, Counter-Strike, Postal, Manhunt, Max Payne, Alan Wake, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Metal Gear, Splinter Cell, Assassin’s Creed, Tomb Raider, Prince of Persia, Minecraft, Roblox, Unity demos, Unreal tests, emulator configurations, ROM modifications, performance testing, build interventions, sound and texture reversions, and documentation of abandoned systems.
One of his extended works is the Driver: You Are The Wheelman – Unity Remake Prototype, documented in the playlist:
• Driver: You Are The Wheelman - The Unity P...
The project evolves through several stages:
Initial versions: Basic urban geometry and driving, no missions or collision logic.
V1: Adds functional UI and simple collision detection.
V2: Introduces vehicle selection, menus, and AI movement.
V3: Full city layout, mission logic, stabilized driving system. Camera follows the vehicle via continuous interpolation. Interface functions without external parameterization. No modular architecture is implemented.
Throughout development, physical interactions, interface behavior, and visual changes are captured directly in videos. Although no formal documentation is provided, system reactions and limitations are observable. The architecture is not yet modular and does not support advanced reconstruction workflows.
Reported conditions include:
Terrain causes vehicle damage.
Chicago bridges only work during the day.
Missing Las Vegas night map.
Thunder effects malfunction in night versions of Driver 2 maps.
Vehicles have incorrect lights, camera placements, or sounds.
Props in Miami disabled to avoid lag.
Missing vehicles due to PC extraction errors.
Multiplayer only works under strict conditions (second player must remain inside vehicle; helicopters unsupported).
Rendering issues with shadows and lighting.
Incomplete paths and prop placements in several maps.
Garage doors and secret buttons are test placeholders.
Vehicles do not spawn in NY, Desert, or Newcastle unless traffic modifier is set to “Air”.
“Undercover” replay mission is a placeholder.
The system doesn’t support 4:3 aspect ratio—causes unpredictable behavior.
Additional undocumented bugs may exist.
