Someone had tied a rope around this boy's neck when he was younger, and then abandoned him on the road. As he grew, the rope tightened. And tightened. There's a point at which tolerance of street animals can merge with pure indifference.

Finally, once maggots penetrated enough to make the bloody tissue more obvious, someone called us for this emergency rescue. Even removing the rope had to have been painful, but this was the beginning of weeks of Herbie's life-saving daily wound cleaning and bandaging. Meet this adorable little friend now!
