In this video Dr. Tahir Yaqub Explains 5 reasons why students fail to complete their PhD. The purpose is not to demotivate PhD students but to provide them a big picture about how they might fail to accomplish their goal of doing PhD. The three out of these 5 reasons can be avoided and we should help the students who are stuck in any of these reasons.
It is important for students to be motivated but within a limit because over motivation is not good.
Also PhD students must understand the role of their supervisor. Some think supervisor is a person who distributes PhD degrees after a certain time.
Another reason could be getting overwhelmed with the literature review.
