Bleeding following menstruation in nay age group who are sexually active, we should rule out pregnancy. If she has bleeding with unprotected sexual intercourse, we think of 2 things, one is infective cause, other one is any problem in the cervix that is the mouth of the uterus. For infective cause, if she has any abnormal white discharge, if she has pain abdomen, fever, then we think more of infection. If she has only contact bleeding, then no other pain, then we think of some other problems in the mouth of the cervix. Most commonly in developing countries, it is cancer where the pap smear screening is not so common as in western countries. If the bleeding is slight bleeding, it could be even functional because of the hormonal imbalance.
