Wojtaszek - Morozevich | Black sacrificies an exchange for dark square control

Описание к видео Wojtaszek - Morozevich | Black sacrificies an exchange for dark square control

In this last round of world blitz Wojtaszek is playing Morozevich. Radoslav plays d4 and Black goes for Benoni structure. Alexandr quickly sacrifices exchange on e3: normally black will want at least a pawn, but Alexander plays this position just exchange down. Black has control over dark squares and safer king.

The Benoni Defense is a chess opening characterized by the moves:

1. d4 Nf6
2. c4 c5
3. d5

Black can then sacrifice a pawn with 3...b5 (the Benko Gambit), otherwise 3...e6 is the most common move (although 3...d6 or 3...g6 are also seen, typically transposing to main lines).

This opening was first popularized by Mikhail Tal, "The magician from Riga", who played many brilliancies with this defense. In fact, The Modern Benoni was one of Mikhail Tal's greatest weapons and helped him to earn a shot at the world chess championship in 1960.

Many top chess grandmasters also used the Benoni like Bobby Fischer, Garry Kasparov, Petrossian, Geller and Spassky.

Blitz chess (also known as speed or fast chess) is a type of chess in which each player is given less time to consider their moves than normal tournament time controls allow. Openings, tactics and strategy are same.
